High Pressure Doors
Operation and Design of the AMD Mine Ventilation Door
American Mine Door uses a proven, simple design when creating high-pressure mine door packages. They are typically used on sites with high water gauge air pressure situations and high-traffic requirements.
AMD's expert engineering team calculates the amount of force that will be placed on the door analyzing such factors as water gauge, height, and width to determine torque. Doors with larger surface areas and higher water gauges require more force to open and close easily. In addition American Mine Door will also need to understand mine strata, temperature, open and close cycles and application to advise on safest ventilation door system for each application.
This unique design feature allows these mine doors to withstand many inches of water gauge pressure. The same air pressure that assists the door in opening also assists it in closing. Consequently, air pressure is equalized.
Ramp slope effects are cancelled as one door wing operating downhill aids the other wing uphill.
Due to the equal force principal, High Pressure Ventilation mine doors can be installed in almost any slope application.
To assure maximum lifetime value, High Pressure mine doors are reusable, and can be easily moved from one location to another.
Minimal working requiring components, thus requiring minimal maintenance.
Door Wings swings on pivot points that centres into the floor and roof, no forces is exerted onto the frame of the door
A singular actuator is used that uses a single that links both door wings for
ease of opening.
Door wings opens fully with only using 63 ̊, thus reducing wear and tear and
also the time to open fully.
Safety is our top priority therefore we have incorporated safety into the designs of our doors by risk assessments during the design-, engineering-, and control- phases.
Doors were designed to cancel the effects of static pressure by incorporating our “opposing wing” design making the pressure on the door system equal out significantly reduces potential stored energy concerns.
Optional Traffic control using lighting systems, alarms, surface control, remote control systems, sonic sensors and photo sensors (identify objects within the path of the door wing closure) are all examples of available safety options to our customers.
Door packages are painted (powder coated) high visibility safety yellow. Reflective striping as an available option.
Optional man-door escape ways installed within the door wing.
Optional air regulators installed into door wing.
In the event of a power failure, our door packages can still open and close with stored energy (limited cycles).
